Maryland Association of Paralegals, Inc.

The Maryland Association of Paralegals is a voluntary, non-profit organization comprised of practicing paralegals, students enrolled in paralegal programs and entities interested in supporting the paralegal profession.

MAP is a registered 501(c)(6) charitable organization, by and for its members.

Formed in 1974, MAP works to advance the quality and standards of the legal profession. Members are required to practice in accordance with the MAP Code of Ethics and Professional Responsibility, adopted in 1996.

MAP is affiliated with the National Federation of Paralegal Associations (NFPA) and extends benefits of membership in both organizations to its members. 



THE MAP MISSION

  • Promote and protect the general professional interests of paralegals in Maryland
  • Involve paralegals in the shaping of guidelines affecting the regulation and development of the paralegal profession
  • Provide a forum for the exchange of view points on matters of professional interest
  • Represent fairly both public and private section paralegal viewpoints and interests
  • Foster continuing education and be a resource center for career enhancement and educational information
  • Inform paralegals of national concerns/developments that affect the profession
