PCCE APPLICATION PROCESS

Eligibility Rules

Paralegals who wish to take the Paralegal CORE Competency Exam (PCCE) and earn CORE Registered Paralegal™ (CRP™) certification must meet one of these requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in paralegal studies; no experience or CLE required, OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in any subject, a paralegal certificate, no experience or continuing legal education (CLE), OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in any subject, no paralegal certificate; 6 months experience and 1 hour of ethics taken in the year preceding the exam application date, OR
  • Associate’s degree in paralegal studies; no experience or CLE required, OR
  • Associate’s degree in any subject, no paralegal certificate; 1 year experience and 6 hours of CLE, including 1 hour of ethics taken in the year preceding the exam application date , OR
  • Paralegal certificate from a program that meets or exceeds the requirements set forth in NFPA’s Short Term Paralegal Program Position Statement;1 year experience and 6 hours of CLE, including 1 hour of ethics, taken in the year preceding the exam application date, OR
  • High school diploma or GED; 5 years experience and 12 hours of CLE, including 1 hour of ethics, taken within the 2 years preceding the exam application date.
Application Process

Complete the On-line Application 
The on-line application can be completed at https://www2.proexam.org/NFPA/Candidate.

Schedule Exam Date/Time
As soon as you receive your candidate eligibility letter, call Prometric/Sylvan Technology Centers to schedule an exam date and time. (Your letter from PES will include a toll-free number. Saturday appointments are not guaranteed.)

You have 90 days from the date on your candidate eligibility letter to take PCCE.

Take the Exam
Arrive at least 15 minutes before the scheduled test time. You will have 2.5 hours to answer 125 multiple choice questions.

Receive Test Results
PACE results are instantaneous. Congratulations!
