Myesha Thompson is a Certified Litigation Paralegal with over a decade of specialized experience in the acquisition and review of medical records. She has spent the last six years at Wais, Vogelstein, Forman and Offutt, LLC, where she has led their medical malpractice team in obtaining the vital health information needed to successfully litigate cases on behalf of injured clients.
Myesha is an astute patient advocate and has spent considerable time studying the regulations which control health information in order to advance case development at WVFO. She has applied her passion for advocacy and knowledge to understanding the HIPAA Privacy Rules. As a result, she has successfully transitioned from the customary approach of obtaining medical records (which is often extremely costly, time consuming, and unreliable) to a new approach which recognizes and relies upon the extended rights of patients to access and control their health information. This new approach is supported by the provisions of the HITECH Act and has increased efficiency within Myesha’s litigation team. Myesha has extensive experience educating and training other to apply this new approach which often leads to obtaining records for a minimal fee of $6.50, saving firm hundreds or thousands of dollars!
